In Power Play, Stanley is turned into a huge, purple, mutant version of himself thanks to Dragaunus and his DNA Accelerator. He goes on to terrorize the Pond, includign the announcer and the crowd there to watch. Ultimately, thanks to Grin, he sees the error of his ways, and is reverted to normal via a severe electrical shock.

After helping the Ducks defeat Dragaunus' latest creation and reverting to his normal self, Stanley comes to the conclusion that he is simply not fit to play the noble sport of hockey. Instead, it's revealed in the next game that Stanley has instead become an NHL referee, with no patience for dirty playing.
